Trailmen,

I know everyone is very excited for our hike and laser tag this Saturday March 17th! For those who are attending, please arrive at the St. Johns parking lot no later than 10:15 AM.  Please everyone bring $10 to help pay for the laser tag!

We will caravan over to Hollow Brook trail, and the hike should be a relaxed three hours with time to eat a bagh lunch.   When we are done, hopefully at around 3:30, we will drive to Skyline laser tag and play from 4:30-5:30 PM.

Always remember to wear HIKING BOOTS or something with god ankle support for a hike.  Bring a water bottle or canteen, and dress in layers.

Cordially,
Henry Hickey

SAVE THESE DATES
The Troop will be hosting a day long First Aid Competition on May 26 in conjunction with an overnight campout, called a "Trail Junction" Invitational, to which we are inviting other area Catholic Trail Life Troops.  A Trail Junction is similar to what scouts call a "camporee".  The First Aid Competition will cap a series of troop meetings that will be devoted to ensuring all Trailmen have the opportunity to earn the First Aid Trail Badge.  This event will be at the Izaak Walton League in Winchester, which is also our new home for Base Camp during Summer Adventure Camp.

For those who may not know, our troop also hosts its own Summer Adventure Camp every year, and other Catholic troops from the area and even from nearby states such as West VIrginia and Pennsylvania have attended in the past.  More details will be forthcoming, but for now, be sure to save the dates: Catholic Troops of Trail Life Summer Adventure Camp 2018 will run from Sunday, July 15 through Saturday 21.

Last year's winning patrol in the week-long Spoils of War competition was the Crusaders, who have been throwing their weight around a bit.  The year before, the patrol from St. James parish in Charles Town, West Virginia, took custody of the trophy (actually, it is a massive warrior's shield).  Which patrol from Troop 1212 will make it their busines to keep the trophy here in Front Royal?   Oh yeah, and the Spoils of War winners also get all the unsold drinks and snacks from the camp Trading Post and first choice of anything unclaimed from Lost & Found.  But it's all about defending the troop's honor and keeping that trophy where it belongs!

Welcome to the newsletter of Our Lady of Guadalupe Troop 1212
Hi folks.  This is another exciting edition of the Troop 1212 newsletter, The Catholic Trailman Wayfarer.  If you are new to the troop or just began receiving this, this is a means of providing Trailmen and parents with important news regarding our program of adventuring, faith formation, and leadership training, all of which help teach boys about authentic manhood.

What is a Wayfarer?  A Wayfarer is a person who travels by foot.  In a well-known traditional hymn, the "wayfaring stranger" is a pilgrim who stands apart as he moves through this world in hopeful anticipation of the Kingdom of God. Inasmuch as Trailmen have accepted the Biblical challenge to "Walk Worthy", we have adopted this name for our troop newsletter.
Be sure to visit the website of Troop 1212 !
The troop website is at www.CatholicTroop.com.  Please check the site regularly.  There are tools on the site to allow Trailmen to communicate with each other and among their patrols so that communication and planning can occur not only in troop meetings but in the days between the meetings and leading up to outdoor adventures.  These tools have been under-utilized so start taking advantage of them!
